Tenor Marimba
The standard tenor consists of 17 padauk keys on an alder frame with folding legs. Keys are tuned by hand to the fundamental, first, and second overtone. One pair of mallets is included.
OptionsKeysKeys made of different woods are available. Wenge works very well for tenors. F#s are also available upon request. FramesAll frames have folding legs for ease in set up and moving. Alder is usually used for the frames although other species can be used. Bird's Eye Maple is especially beautiful as end pieces. Keys are strung on rope with optional foam pads underneath. Frames can be ordered in many different species of wood to emphasize utility and/or beauty. Favorites include alder, ash, wenge, nara, and zebra wood. Frame heights can be customized to accomodate player's heights and preferences. Resonator TubesResonator tubes made of PVC pipe are available. They amplify the sound and provide the traditional african buzzing sound. They can be painted black or left white.
